Santa Iria to Vila Franca de Xira
Walking Day 2: 28 km, 7 hours
We started the day with a steep pavement hill climb up and out of Santa Iria, over the top of the hills (130 meters), and then down towards Grinja and Quintanilha. From there we headed off on the farm tracks and trails of the Camino. The trails led down Povoa de Santa Iria, then to Alverca and Vila Franca de Xira in parks along the banks of the Tejo River.
We stayed at the Leziria Parque, which was very nice and only a few hundred meters off the Camino. We saw Heather and Robbyn at dinner, but didn’t yet know that they were fellow pilgrims.
